The Ksh 1.7 billion expansion and modernization of Siaya County Referral Hospital has reached 37% completion. The project is being funded through a partnership in which Siaya County is contributing Ksh 1.2 billion (70%) and the National Government Ksh 500 million (30%).
The upgrade will transform the facility into a Level 5 referral hospital serving Siaya County and the wider Lake Region. The development includes a new Main Inpatient Wing, a Mother and Child Wing, and an Accident, Emergency and Outpatient Department. Construction remains on schedule, with the upgraded hospital expected to open in May 2027.
