Siaya County is undertaking Phase 2 of the expansion of the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Stadium, a project jointly funded by the county and national governments to increase seating capacity from 5,500 to 20,000 spectators. The upgrade includes construction of new terraces, installation of a roof canopy, a tarmacked internal ring road, and enhanced security walls to raise the facility to international standards.
The stadium, which already features a world-class football pitch, tartan track, and VVIP lounges developed under Phase 1 funded by the County Government of Siaya, is expected to strengthen Siaya’s position as a regional sports hub, support youth talent development, and boost economic activity through sports tourism upon completion.
