Kenya Secondary School Heads Association (KESSHA) gathered in Mombasa for the four-day 49th KESSHA Conference with major topic of discussion being rising student unrest across Kenyan schools and strategies to address it.
Under the leadership of Willie Kuria, teachers suggested stronger school discipline frameworks, and possible transfers of learners struggling with boarding environments to day schools for closer parental supervision.
Other topics of discussion include implementing Competency-Based Education (CBE), leadership in a changing education system, digital transformation in schools, learner and staff mental wellness, accountability, transparency, sustainable education financing, and implementation of ongoing reforms. The conference brings together school principals, Ministry of Education and Teachers Service Commission.
The conference will be opened on June 24, 2026 by Chief of Staff Felix Koskei and Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba.
