Cabinet Secretary for Water, Sanitation and Irrigation Eric Mugaa on June 20, 2026 launched the Water Services Regulatory Board Water Services Regulatory Board 18th Impact Report for 2024/2025.
Water coverage in regulated service areas increased from 70% to 72%, while sanitation and sewer access remained higher in regulated areas at about 92.5% and 15.8% respectively, compared to much lower national averages. The report placed Kenya’s overall access at roughly 42% for water, 54% for sanitation, and 9% for sewer connectivity.
The launch was attended by Laikipia Governor and Council of Governors Water Committee Chair H.E. Joshua Wakahora Irungu, Ministry Water Secretary Eng. S.A.O. Alima, and WASREB Acting CEO Richard Cheruiyot.
