The Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) on Friday, June 20, 2026, announced that it had relocated 24 Grant’s gazelles, 15 males and nine females, from the Galana ecosystem to Tsavo East National Park in a pre-dawn operation led by Dr. Campaign Limo and the KWS veterinary team. The translocation was conducted under established wildlife management protocols to support national conservation efforts and strengthen wildlife populations within protected areas.
The exercise aims to restore ecological balance, reduce human-wildlife conflict around farmlands, curb crop damage and illegal bushmeat hunting, and promote coexistence between communities and wildlife.
