Nairobi County now Collects Ksh 13.8 billion says Governor Johnson Sakaja

Nairobi Governor Sakaja Johnson appeared before the Senate County Public Accounts Committee (CPAC) on June 19, 2026, and reported that the county’s own-source revenue increased from KSh 8 billion to KSh 13.8 billion over the last four years following the adoption of digitized revenue collection systems and enhanced accountability measures.

The governor also outlined ongoing challenges in the collection of land rates and called for full implementation of the National Rating Act, 2024. The proposed measures are aimed at improving fairness and increasing county revenue to support investment in roads, healthcare, waste management, markets, and street lighting.
