KPA to establish Moyale Dry Port and Lake Turkana Ferry Services Under LAPSSET Corridor

Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) in collaboration with Turkana and Marsabit county governments on June 19, 2026 initiated plans to establish the Moyale Dry Port and introduce ferry services on Lake Turkana to strengthen connectivity along the LAPSSET Corridor linking Kenya, Ethiopia, and South Sudan.

Capt. William Ruto together with Mohamud Mohamed conducted a site assessment in Loiyangalani, Marsabit County, covering proposed locations for the dry port and a modern jetty for cargo and passenger ferry services on Lake Turkana. The initiative is positioned to boost economic development in Marsabit and Turkana counties, with support from national and county leadership.
