Kilifi Governor Gideon Mungaro on Thursday, June 18, 2026 commissioned the first Kilifi Cancer Centre at Kilifi County Referral Hospital alongside French Ambassador Arnaud Suquet, Aga Khan Development Network representative Amin Mawji and senior county and national government officials. The facility launched chemotherapy services to provide specialized cancer treatment closer to residents, reducing the need for patients to travel long distances for care.
The project was supported through partnerships involving the Government of France, the Ministry of Health, the National Cancer Institute of Kenya, the National Cancer Control Programme, the Aga Khan Development Network and the East Africa Comprehensive Women Cancer Project.
