William Samoei Ruto visited the Port of Mombasa on June 18, 2026 for a tour of the research vessel Dr. Fridtjof Nansen, a marine ship owned by the Kingdom of Norway, operated under the United Nations flag and managed by the Institute of Marine Research. The vessel was showcased during the Our Ocean Conference in Mombasa.
The vessel functions as an oceanographic research platform generating data on marine biodiversity, fisheries, and ecosystem health to support sustainable ocean governance.
