CMOs to use eCitzen Platform for Royalty Collections

Collection Management Organizations (CMOs) on on June 23, 2026 signed a Service Level Agreement with E-Citizen to onboard royalty collection services into the eCitizen platform. This means busineses will be abale to use ecitien portal to apply for the music use Copyright and Related Rights license.

The rollout framework supports improved transparency, efficiency and accountability in royalty payments to artists, performers and rights holders, with expected reduction of leakage and delays in distribution. The system is scheduled for official launch next week by Cabinet Secretaries Hon. Salim Mvurya and Hon.

fficials present during the signing ceremony include Kenya Copyright Board leadership, Belio Kipsang, E-Citizen leadership and CMO representatives.
