VOCAL Africa Statement On BBC's Blood Parliament Documentary
VOCAL Africa Statement On BBC Blood Parliament Documentary.

We write to you in light of the BBC documentary titled "Blood Parliament" released today, which sheds new and critical light on the tragic events of 25th June 2024 outside Parliament. The documentary conclusively identifies individual officers involved in the unlawful killing of peaceful Gen Z protestors. This new evidence, when considered together with the material in our possession - including comprehensive postmortem reports - forms a compelling basis for the immediate arrest and prosecution of the officers responsible for these heinous acts.
The BBC investigation, corroborated by independent evidence and credible eyewitness accounts, leaves no reasonable doubt as to the identities of the perpetrators. Accordingly, we call upon the ODPP to treat this matter with the urgency and seriousness it deserves to avoid further erosion of public trust and to avert possible unrest arising from perceived inaction. The families of the victims and the broader public demand and deserve swift justice.
We respectfully remind your office that delays or failure to act decisively risk emboldening impunity and would be a grave abdication of duty to the Constitution and to the people of Kenya.
By copy of this letter to the Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA), we urge them to collaborate closely with your office, and to immediately share all available evidence, including witness statements, to expedite the arrest and prosecution of the suspects. Additionally, by further copy of this letter to the Kenya Defense Forces (KDF) and the National Police Service (NPS), we demand that they immediately surrender the officers identified in the BBC documentary to the appropriate authorities for due process.
Human Rights And Social Justice Across Africa
We remain available to provide all the evidence we hold and to support efforts to ensure that justice is not only done but is seen to be done.
Sincerely,
Hussein Khalid Executive Director
