Turkana County Statement On Cholera Outbreak In Kakuma And Kalokol

Clarity on Cholera in Turkana County
Cholera cases have been reported recently in several counties across the nation. However, the Department of Health and Sanitation wishes to clarify that, unlike recent media reports, there are no reported cases in Kakuma and Kalokol.
Laboratory testing is still underway to analyze samples collected earlier from Suguta Sub-County by the deployed rapid response team. These samples have also been sent to the Kenya National Public Health Laboratory for quality assurance.
The department will provide more information upon the completion of confirmatory tests.
Meanwhile, the public is strongly advised to maintain high standards of personal and environmental hygiene to mitigate potential health risks.
