MSCK Statement on Collection of Music Royalties and Payment Channels
Music Copyright Society of Kenya (MSCK) Statement on Collection Of Music Royalties and Payment Channels.

MCSK, through exclusive Deeds of Assignment, administers and enforces the economic rights of over 15,500 Kenyan authors, composers, arrangers, and publishers of copyrighted musical works. Further, MCSK, through exclusive Reciprocal Agreements, administers and enforces the economic rights of international authors, composers, arrangers, and publishers of copyrighted musical works within Kenya.
MCSK has applied for the renewal of its 2025 Certificate of Registration as a Collective Management Organization (CMO) license to continue managing the rights of both local and international members.
We wish to clarify that the recent statement made by the Chairman of Kenya Copyright Board (KECOBO) on social media has not been formally communicated to MCSK. Furthermore, the contents of that statement do not align with the Judgment delivered on 9th September 2024 by the Copyright Tribunal in COPTA/E002/2024 and the Ruling delivered on 3rd April 2025 by the High Court of Kenya in HCCA No. E1035 of 2024.
MCSK wishes to affirm that there are no internal disputes that would legally or administratively justify the denial or delay in issuance of a provisional 2025 CMO License. We are waiting for formal communication from KECOBO following the completion of their internal processes.
IMPORTANT NOTICE TO USERS OF MUSIC: All payment of royalties should be done through MCSK's legitimate payment channels:
Banking Details: - NCBA Bank, Westlands Branch, A/c Number 5527990048 - Mpesa Paybill Number: 5129000, A/c No: Your Invoice Number.
