Police Statement On George Koimburi Arrest Case And Video Incident

The National Police Service (NPS) has noted a video circulating on both social and mainstream media, widely reported as depicting the Member of Parliament for Juja, Hon. George Koimburi, purportedly abandoned at a farm in Juja.

The MP has been under investigation for a land fraud matter, and consent to prosecute was issued by the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP). On Friday, 23rd May, the MP fully aware of the police's intention to arrest him, evaded a dragnet operation, duped officers by escaping on a motorcycle alongside his private security, and switched off his mobile phone. His car, with only the driver inside, was intercepted; the driver was arrested but later released after recording a statement. The Hon. MP only resurfaced today amid abduction claims.

Police from Juja visited the alleged scene, and the area was properly documented. Meanwhile, a special team from DCI headquarters is analysing the purported abduction video and all circumstances surrounding these allegations to conclusively establish the truth.

We urge anyone with information regarding the incident shown in the amateur video to report to their nearest police station or contact us via our toll-free numbers: 999, 911, 112, or #FichuakwaDCI (0800 722 203).

The NPS reaffirms its unwavering commitment to serving and protecting all Kenyans, residents, visitors, and their property by ensuring all reported cases are thoroughly and expeditiously investigated to bring those responsible to justice.
