KNUNM Statement on UHC Nurses Demonstrations over Unjust SRC Remuneration Rates
Kenya National Union of Nurses and Midwives (KNUNM) Statement on UHC Nurses Demonstrations over unjust SRC Remuneration Rates.

Following the consultative meeting between the unions and yourselves on 6th May 2025, in which both the Principal Secretary and the CEO Council of Governors made a communication, our union rejects the content of the communication in totality. We have credible information that the Doctors on the UHC program are being remunerated as per the SRC recommended rates and that their absorption has already been factored into the budget (copy of KMPDU communication attached). This union will not continue to witness the discrimination with which issues concerning health workers are handled at the ministry. Further, the union is going to oppose any transfer of nurses to county government unless their terms are regularized.
In view of the foregoing, our members (UHC staff) shall continue with the strike and demonstrations, and that all the nurses countrywide will be joining them and will remain on strike until their demands are fully addressed devoid of discrimination. We reiterate our commitment to a cordial working relationship. Thank you.
All correspondence should be addressed to the General Secretary.
