SATUK Electoral Board Statement on Nullification of Election Results For Various Positions

We would like to notify the Student Fraternity that some aspirants to the above-mentioned positions lodged petitions pertaining to eligibility to hold SATUK office by the current holders of the respective offices. The concerns were addressed by a Panel of Arbitrators appointed by the Vice-Chancellor in accordance with Article 24 of the SATUK Constitution, 2018 (Revised 2024). Upon scrutiny and thorough examination of witness statements, completed aspirants' application forms, aspirants fee statements, Students' Identity Cards, uncontroverted evidence from clearance portal, TUSOFT system, EDPS report, result slips and nominal roll evidence, the two (2) current office holders for the position of Chairperson of SATUK and Male Representatives of Faculty of Social Sciences and Technology were found culpable of misrepresentation of eligibility information.

Consequently, it was recommended as follows:

i. That the election of the Chairperson together with their running mate and Male Faculty of Social Sciences and Technology Representative be nullified;

ii. That a repeat election for the position of Chairperson SATUK 2025/2026 with the remaining aspirants, after fresh vetting, be organized;

iii. Declare the Runner-up and the only opponent of the petitioned Office bearer as the Male Faculty Representative for the Faculty of Social Sciences and Technology.

As a result of the foregoing, the SATUK 2025/2026 Electoral Board declares a repeat election for the position in accordance with the following schedule of activities leading to the repeat elections now scheduled for Monday 12th May, 2025 at 9:00 am in the Lecture Theatre.

7th May, 2025: Application and processing of aspirants: 8:00 am-4:00 pm

8th May, 2025: Submission: 12:00 Noon

8th May, 2025: Publication of cleared aspirants: 6:00 pm

9th May, 2025: Meeting with aspirants and their agents in Room N023F: 10:00 am - 11:00 am

12th May, 2025: Election in the Lecture Theatre: 9:00 am - 11:00 am

12th May, 2025: Swearing-in: 11:00 am - 12:00 Noon

It should be noted that the delegates that took part in the SATUK Council elections on 29th April, 2025 will be the same voters in the repeat elections.
